56 Random Albums: A 2017 Retrospective

I forgot to post my annual music roundup! I know all three of my readers have been disappointed…until now! I don’t disappoint forever!

In 2017 I added 56 new albums to my library. I witnessed 34 concerts (or the greater number of 61 music sets). I also wrote reviews for 15 concerts for a different blog I write for about living in Washington, DC! Check out the reviews here.

In previous years, I didn’t give much commentary, but I’m eager to redeem your disappointment. Or maybe extra thoughts will just add to it?

Top Albums Listened to in 2017*

  1. ‘After Laughter’ by Paramore – This absolutely sounds different than previous albums (which I like), and wow after 500 listens, I still love it.
  2. ‘Conscious’ by Broods – I can’t stop listening to this. Can. Not. Stop.
  3. ‘The Ride’ by Catfish and the Bottlemen – Just great. “Soundcheck” is my new favorite song today.
  4. ‘A Deeper Understanding’ by The War on Drugs – I had not listened to them before, but I’m sold on their sound.
  5. ‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ by Royal Blood – Rocks!
  6. ‘American Dream’ by LCD Soundsystem – Good album and they are great live too!
  7. ‘I Love You Like A Brother’ by Alex Lahey – A new rocking artist from Australia. Pretty cool.
  8. ‘All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell’ by PVRIS – They were #6 on my list in 2016…I’m sensing a theme.
  9. ‘Three’ by Phantogram – Dig it.
  10. ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ by The Killers – Sort of liked it, then kept listening and think it’s solid.
